How To Turn Your Website Visitors Into Customers

What are your website visitors doing while on your site? Are they just looking and leaving or do they stick around for a while? Do you know?

Give that a little thought and then let’s continue. If you don’t know, don’t worry and freak out, I’ve got a quick fix for you that I use on my sites — Hotjar.

Hotjar helps me understand how visitors interact on my site by visually representing their clicks, taps and scrolling behavior. Another amazing feature they offer is website visitor recording, where I can record real visitor behavior on my site. This really helps me understand my customer where I really feel like I’m in their shoes.

Keep them clicking

Ok, so now that you know how you can better understand your website visitors, let’s go over how you can turn them into customers.

Forms. I love forms. Unless you were personally recommended, people usually don’t purchase something on the first go. So having a form available gives you the chance to get their email address and for them to get more information.

Now I know. Forms are as common as dimes these days. Well, that’s because they work!

But having just one Form somewhere on your website isn’t enough, especially if it’s on your landing page stuck in one spot. People tend to follow the information you make available to them which should be spread across several web pages. And having dedicated web pages that explain different information is key.

Web pages that showcase your products and services, pricing page or your blog will keep your visitor clicking throughout your website. And by keeping your customers actively clicking through your website gives you multiple ways to engage your visitor. Giving you a better chance to get their email and turn them into subscribers to your blog or newsletter.

Reaching Website Visitors

Now let’s revisit the ‘I’ve only got one form on my website and it’s on my landing page’. The fact that you have a form on your website is a huge part of converting your website visitors to customers so I

commend you on that. But you should treat forms more like Pringles – once you pop you can’t stop.

What do I mean by this? As I mentioned before, you want to give yourself the best opportunity to convert a visitor into a customer. So, offer more opportunities to grab their email address.

The company that does this best would have to be OptinMonster. I use them on all my websites and recommend them to all my clients and customers. OptinMonster is hands-down the most powerful conversion optimization & lead generation software available.

Their Exit-Intent Technology, numerous campaign types and easy to use drag-and-drop builder make

it simple for anyone to start creating awesome attention-grabbing offers to your visitors for maximum engagement. I keep mentioning campaigns so I placed an example here so you have a better idea of what I’m talking about.

The slide-in scroll box does just that, it politely slides in from the side of the screen. In it, you would offer something of value to your website visitors such as a checklist or a how-to guide. You don’t just want to put For More Information Please Fill Out Our Form. You want to entice people with actual value. The more items of value you can offer the more likely you will peak someone’s interest. The more interest more engagement.

Chat With Your Visitors

Another key component that I use is a platform that allows me to communicate to my website visitors in real-time. There is no better time to convert a visitor into a customer than when they are on your website. They are showing interest by being on your site and they have questions. Perfect timing.

A tool I use to get this job done is LiveChat. I found them when I was trying to figure out how to be more available for questions that my website visitors may conjure up. LiveChat is an online chat solution that helps you connect with your customers on your website. You can see in real time the way visitors behave and approach them on each step of the buying process. This allows you to easily provide instant help and as a result, increase your conversion rates.

LiveChat comes with a ticketing system built into the application as well. The ticketing system allows you to receive customer questions when you are offline. By creating tickets from your chats, you can stay in touch with customers when you need some time to deal with their cases. You can also receive your support emails as tickets and handle them in one place. It is truly brilliant how much my customer service rating has increased by being available in this capacity. And people love customer service.

Visitors Into Customers

Your website is one of your biggest marketing tools and the first representation your company online. If you don’t have tools set in place to help increase the conversion of your website visitors, you’re losing so much opportunity and sales.

I’ll leave you with this. If you don’t think that these tools may be difficult to use,  you’re sadly mistaken. These companies have done such a wonderful job empowering their customers by creating easy-to-use tools. If budget is stopping you from adding tools like these to your website, Hotjar has a free version, LiveChat offers a 30-day free trial along with a low monthly option and OptinMonter offers a 14-day money back guarantee.
